Charles Swan is the Principal of The Virtual CFO, performing financial management on an interim, consulting, or part time basis. He is a senior financial manager with over 20 years of successful financial, accounting and operations experience as a CFO in a variety of industries, public and private. He has driven significant operations improvement, managing business growth, maximizing operations through reengineering of finance management, cost reductions, internal controls, team building and leadership expertise.
Chuck provides cost effective governance for companies of all sizes, including compliance with SEC, SOX, international tax, currency and technology transfer restrictions. He is proactive in developing strategic partnerships with vendors and customers.
Prior to kicking off The Virtual CFO, Chuck was an auditor with Ernst & Young in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and served with Racal-Milgo, Inc., where he established a new internal audit department, drove all the Company's public reporting, and was Director of Finance for its Computer Products Division.
Chuck has served on the boards of directors of The Wollongong Group and Noetics Microsystems.
He chaired the City of Saratoga Finance Commission for several years. He is a member of the Saratoga Mens Club, where he served as President. Chuck was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, the Saratoga Foothill Club Historic Landmark Foundation, as well as The Valley Institute of Theatre Arts (VITA), also serving as President. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Los Gatos Veterans Memorial Foundation and WeHeal Foundation. He is a member of Saratoga Rotary, having served on the Board of Directors, as Treasurer and Secretary of the Club, and Director of Finance for the Saratoga Rotary Art Show.
Chuck earned an MBA in Accounting and Finance from Florida Atlantic University, and a BBA in Accounting from the University of Miami. He also studied Marine Engineering at the US Merchant Marine Academy, and is a licensed marine engineer having served on US merchant ships for several years.
He holds the following credentials: CPA (Cal & Florida); CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant), CMA (Certificate in Management Accounting; and CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).
